smart change of column name

edited 12/09/19 inArchived 2016 Posts

Hi,

i need to change several column names in my smartsheet.

I have entire workspace built around this sheet, using it as data source. I have multiple reports that show/filter on this column, and if i simply change the name, reports stop working.

is there a smart way to update column name everywhere?

or somehow get a list of all reports that use this column so i can be sure i didn't miss anything

thanks,

masha

    Masha,

    update column name everywhere?

    Not that I know of.

The design of the system needs to account for this pain and have your column names fixed as early as possible.

I know that does not help you now.

get a list of all reports?

Again, not that I know of. I'm afraid you will need to check them one-by-one.

You can at least get to all of your Reports from the Home tab | More | Reports window.

This might be something that can be done in the API.

Depending on how many Reports you have, it might not be cost effective to build the first time, but it is always something to think about.

  • Sadly, the API has no access to report builder:(

i guess this will be a manuall road...

Hi there,

I think this should work:

=IF(COUNTIF(Referencia:Referencia, Referencia@row) > 1, 1)

Have a great day.

Hi @sawuzie

There's no direct way to do this. However, you can add a checkbox helper column to identify duplicates. You can use the formula =IF(COUNTIF([Cells Linked from TE Tracker]:[Cells Linked from TE Tracker], [Cells Linked from TE Tracker]@row) > 1, 1, 0). This will add a check in the duplicates column for all values which appear more than once. You can then add the Distinct column with the formula =IF([Duplicate]@row=0, [Cells Linked from TE Tracker]@row). The Distinct column will only have the distinct values listed.

I'm trying to figure out a formula to note a "1" in the cell if the information in the cell next to it is a certain value, any other value needs to show a "0".
