Conditional formatting in Gantt not working with dependencies

For some reason it seems like my conditional formatting rules aren't being applied to certain rows in the Gantt chart side of this sheet. The problem is resolved if I disable dependencies, but I need those and don't understand why this should matter since I don't have any rules related to status or % complete in the dependencies, and my conditional formatting rules are pretty simple (only referencing a category column I created and my status column). I don't see any way to manually change the color of these task bars either.

    Hi@smbailey

    I hope you're well and safe!

    I can't see any rows in your screenshot that should be colored differently. Parent rows can't be changed.

    Can you share more screenshots with the conditional formatting options used on a few child rows?(Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help.

    I hope that helps!

    Be safe, and have a fantastic weekend!

    @smbailey

    I tried doing conditional formatting with a similar category column and status column, but the formatting seems to be working even with dependency enabled.

    Your conditional formatting seems to have no problem, so I wonder why it doesn't work on your sheet.

    Try accessing the demo sheet from the link below and change category or status to check.

  • It's the parent rows that I'm talking about, makes no sense that they can't be changed with dependencies.... Why???

Hi Katherine,

You can make the label on one line by dragging the corner 1 to make the widget bigger enough, and center the symbol by selecting "Use formatting from source" icon 2 (make sure to center the symbol in your source sheet).

Hope this works for you.
